Potato cakes

This potato cakes are really filling but they taste amazing. Plus they are great for using up left over mash. They are such a comfort food and they can last up to 3 days. They are very similar ingredients to Potato Rosti’s but the end result is so different.


  • 150g Grated potato
  • 150g Mashed potato
  • 150g Plain flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 100ml Milk
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 tbsp Mustard


  1. Place the rated potato in a clean tea towel and squeeze out the excess moisture.
  2. Combine all the ingredients until a dough is formed.
  3. Roll onto a floured surface and divide into small portions.
  4. Flatten out into little patties and fry until brown on both sides.

These potato cakes are perfect for breakfast served hot with a runny egg on top or just for dipping into soup.
