I have heard so much about salted caramel sauce that I decided to make my own. It is fairly easy to make and quick but take care as it can get very hot. I have tried the sugar free versions but the classic recipe has always turned out the winner. The only problem about making this is that you can’t stop eating it! I had disasters in the past making toffee, like nearly gluing my teeth together so I was worried about this caramel. But this was so soft and creamy….
- 200g Brown Sugar
- 90g Butter
- 120ml Cream
- Pinch of salt
Preparation, the night before:
- Place sugar in pan over a high heat and keep stirring as it melts to prevent it burning.
- Stir in the butter and stir until it melts.
- Then add in the cream and salt and allow to come to boil.
- Remove from the heat and the sauce will thicken as it cools.
This salted caramel sauce is delicious served over ice cream or just for dipping apples or pear into. Also it can be transformed into salted caramel milkshakes or hot milk mixed with the salted caramel.
